Introducing ‘Barry James’ our New Sales Expert
Barry is one of our newest team member who recently joined our Sales division in mid October 2017, as Government/Education Sales Representative.
Barry will answer some quirky questions so we can get a better insight to our new Sales Expert:
Q. Tell me a little about your personal life – are you married, children? Etc
A. Grew up on the Gold Coast and left in 1989. Have recently returned after 28 years away in Brisbane, Sydney and North Queensland. Now living 300m from the beach with a fabulous girl, and looking forward to spending this summer learning how to surf (and fall off) a stand up paddle board. I have one daughter Bianca who is 18, currently living in London and plans to return to Australia in early 2018 to study Architecture & Engineering in Melbourne.
Q. How did you become a Salesperson?
A. I think it was in my blood. First sales experience was selling Rubiks Cubes at the markets that my dad was importing from China when I was about 13. First ‘real’ sales job was as a sales rep for Festival Records in the late 80’s selling CD’s, vinyls and cassettes to record stores in South East Queensland. I have been in the print industry since early 2008.
Q. How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
A. Compassionate, Spontaneous, Alive.
Q. What is something about you that nobody here at Docsol knows?
A. Once worked in an abattoir – I was the guy who killed the chickens.
Q. What is the best thing since sliced bread?
A. Sliced bread with butter and bacon on it.
Q. What is the best trip you have taken – where and why?
A. 7 days in the Greek Islands on a 340 foot sailing ship. No further explanation required!
Q. If you won 1 million dollars, how would you spend it?
A. $100,000 to spend, $100,000 to charity and the balance locked away until I have time to come up with a sensible idea of how to best use it.
Q. Name five famous people (dead or alive) that you would invite to your dinner party.
A. Albert Einstein – a genius unrivalled, Muhammad Ali – for his triumphs against adversity, Steven Spielberg – I’m a Sci-fi movie lover, John Mayer – my favourite all round singer/songwriter/guitar player, and ‘The Unknown Man’- the man/student who stopped the tanks in Tienanmen Square, Beijing in 1989 – for his sheer bravery.
Q. Are you a dog or cat person?
A. Definitely dogs. Cats are too smug for my liking.
Q. If money and time was not an obstacle, what would you do with your life?
A. Find a rundown shack on a beach in Thailand, open up a laptop and write a book.
